Extensive process engineering know-how is accumulated throughout the
associate companies of the invensys group which is sensibly bundled in the product
development: This means Synergy at work. A good example for this are the new
process connections for pressure transmitters by FOXBORO ECKARDT which are exactly suited
to the requirement profile of
APV
- i. e.
to hygienically sensible application areas.
FOXBORO ECKARDT has vast experience in the development and
production of highly accurate measuring devices. After successfully introducing the
intelligent transmitters of the
I/A 140 Series
to the market a
contact was established to the sister company APV to utilize their know-how in food
processing. As result of this cooperation the elaborate process connection program for
pressure and absolute pressure transmitters was expanded by five new process connections
and is available immediately:
- Tri-Clamp 2
- APV Inline Flange
- M44 x 1,25 Screwed Connection
- Milk Pipe fitting DIN 11851
- DN15/PN40 DIN Flange
Characteristic for all devices is a flush visible measuring membrane
without pressure seal. This opens a wide spectrum of applications for the pressure
transmitters exactly in those areas in which APV is strong: in the food and pharmaceutical
industries, in the beverage and brewery industries and in other areas of chemical
engineering. Since these are hygienically sensible areas it goes without saying that the
flush measuring membrane does not show any rough edges nor any dead space: This is an
important basis for the certification of applications in food process engineering.
As process contacted material solely stainless steel 316L (1.4435 /
1.4404) is used. All connection between measuring membrane and the respective process
connection are welded so that even the most severe hygienic requirements are fulfilled.
The robust and safe two-chamber amplifier housing is also available in stainless steel.
Requirements demanded by CIP and SIP processes for a modern, reliable
measuring device, naturally, are also being fulfilled.
That the new process connections were especially designed for food
processing, is evident from the fact that FOXBORO ECKARDT has subjected the three versions
with Tri Clamp2, M44 x 1,25 and APV Inline connection to the discriminating
tests according to EHEDG
(European Hygienic Equipment Design Group) criteria in order to receive a respective certificate from the
Lehrstuhl für Maschinen- und Apparatekunde Weihenstephan
.
3A Certification will be applied for shortly.
The transmitters are available in the electrical classification EEx ia IICT4, fulfilling the
requirements of protection type IP66. The intelligent electronics permit communication in
the HART standard; additionally, the communication protocol FOXCOM enables the complete
digital integration of the transmitters into the FOXBORO I/A Series System. The mechanical
assembly technique developed by FOXBORO ECKARDT enables the easier implementation of the
flush measuring tools in almost all process connections.
