Positioner with Fieldbus

Positioner with Fieldbus

Foxboro Eckardt introduces the fieldbus-positioners SRD991 with PROFIBUS-PA and FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 in the positioner series. This series offers with the new fieldbus-versions devices, with the choice of all in the process automation applied communication protocols. This includes versions with analog setpoint (4...20 mA), HART- or FoxCom-protocol. Conversion to any other electronic can easily be achieved by the modular structure of the electronic.

The SRD991 offers the enhanced functionality of most modern microprocessor controlled valve-controls, e.g. automatic initialization for determination of mechanical stops, control parameters, and dynamic optimization of the control behavior. This results in a remarkable reduction of expenditure for the adjustments and the start-up. The device is operated from control systems, controllers or PC-based configuration- and operation-tools. All important valve data such as setpoint, valve position, control deviation, air supply pressure, and output pressure are shown as device data and the curve is shown in a graphical display. The positioner can also be operated and configured by means of local push buttons and LED’s.

Status messages submit information on current and historic operating conditions, for example air supply failure or remaining control deviation. This information is supplemented by diagnostic messages furnishing additional information on the electronic components. This enables constant monitoring of the control process. The indicated and illustrated data as well as status- and diagnostic messages derived can be ideally utilized for process optimization and predictive maintenance. This results in a more transparent and simultaneously more economic control process thanks to fast localization of possible operational faults. Failure times and service costs can therefore be reduced.

With this series an easy and reasonable attachment to linear- and rotary actuators can be achieved with only one device version. Additional options are binary inputs, outputs, analog position feedback, built-in pressure sensors and inductive limit switches.

A minimum pressurization of the housing ensures, that aggressive environmental influences and dust cannot penetrate into the housing. Possible contents of moisture in the housing is continuously rinsed out of the housing.

More than 1 Mio. installed positioners within 40 years are an indication for the competence of Foxboro Eckardt in the field of valve control.
